Sleepy G Summer CSA
The 2024 Summer CSA runs from July 24th to September 25th (10 weeks)

All are welcome to the Sleepy G Community

We feel that lack of financial resources should not prevent anyone from joining our organic CSA so for the last three years we have been offering a Sliding-scale fee schedule!
There are many different price points for the SAME weekly shares which is made possible for our members by our members!

Our intention in the design of our Supporter and Access Shares is to have members select the membership that works for them financially without eligibility criteria or fear of judgment and knowledge that their membership supports not only a local farm but other community members.

This means that members who can to pay a little more can easily select a “Supporter Membership” where the extra funds directly subsidize our “Access Shares” intended for those who would like to become or continue to be a CSA member but find affordability to be an issue.

Standard Priced Shares

Large Standard Shares $60 ($65 toward your choice of veggies) weekly or biweekly
Small Standard Price Shares $40 ($42.50 toward your choice of veggies) weekly

Supporter Shares +20%
- Support the work we do and contribute to CSA access for others in our community!

Large Supporter Shares $72 ($65 toward your choice of veggies) weekly or biweekly
Small Supporter Shares $48 ($42.50 toward your choice of veggies) weekly

Access Shares -20%
- Support the work we do with the support of fellow members

Large Access Shares $48 ($65 toward your choice of veggies) weekly or biweekly
Small Access Shares $32 ($42.50 toward your choice of veggies) weekly

Work Days With the Sleepy G Crew
-Apply to work a day with the Sleepy G Crew! Receive a $100 discount on your Weekly Large Share or $60 discount on your Biweekly Large or Weekly Small Share in exchange for your shift. All adults and all abilities welcome to participate (sorry no kids)

Select a Wednesday Share Packing Day 1:30pm to 6:30pm in Thunder Bay

Pickup on Wednesday afternoon/evening in Thunder Bay or Thursday to Sunday at the Farm in Pass Lake

Thunder Bay at Waverley Park (2:00 - 6:00pm) or anytime Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday at the farm in Pass Lake
Option to add weekly package of fresh, locally roasted coffee from Rose N Crantz Roasting Co.
Option to add weekly package of hand-rolled bagels from Boreal Bakery
Option to add weekly bread or granola from Both Hands Bakery & Pizzeria
A weekly edition of our CSA newsletter “Well Vittled” will provide some recipes to try out, as well give you an update on the farm and/or commentary on topics relating to agriculture
Subscriptions are sold for the entire season on a first-come, first-served basis.

Which share should I select?

This is a bit of a guide to our sliding-scale fees, we invite members to take stock of their financial resources and consider financial privilege while selecting their share. There is absolutely no pressure to go above the Standard priced shares – please choose what resonates with you. Likewise, members who are guided toward an Access share can select that membership with comfort and ease.

Access Shares are intended for those who are: single parents, low- wage income earners, newcomers, Black, Indigenous or person of Colour, live with a disability have medical expenses not covered by the province, have significant educational expenses, receive public assistance such as OW/ODSP or a senior without a workplace retirement pension etc.

Supporter Shares are intended for those who: are home owners, have investments, retirement savings, inherited money or have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.

This is not a strict criterion or an exhaustive list but rather a way to navigate your choice for the upcoming season.
Your choice goes toward creating a more diverse, inclusive and welcoming Sleepy G community. We invite you to spread the news about our CSA to anyone who might want to become a member!

The Winter Savour CSA Large Share (9 to 11 vegetable items biweekly) is $700 for 10 deliveries over a 20 week period. $75+ of your choice of veg every 2 weeks
The Winter Savour CSA Small Share (6 to 7 vegetable items biweekly) is $500 for 10 deliveries over a 20 week period. $52+ of your choice of veg every 2 weeks

SLEEPY G FARM IS A COMMUNITY
CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture”. CSA members purchase a subscription to the farm’s harvest prior to the growing season. In exchange for the membership fee, CSA members will receive a portion of the farm's harvest throughout the growing season. CSA programs are a wonderful way for people to strengthen their relationship with food through an increased awareness of the cycles of nature and the gift of harvest. By being a member of our CSA you will enjoy fresh, ripe, seasonal produce grown right here in Northwestern Ontario!

There are a number of other benefits to the CSA member which include supporting your local economy, minimizing the carbon footprint related to feeding your family, becoming connected with farming, and trust in the quality and safety of the food you eat. We, the farmers are directly accountable to you, our members.

Benefits to the farmers include a guaranteed sale of much of the farm’s produce, money at the beginning of the season when it is needed most, and pride in contributing to our community in a real and meaningful way. Additionally, we get the opportunity to get to know our Members on a personal level which is often very rewarding as many of our customers are passionate about the same things as us. CSA is not only about high quality food – it’s also about community building.
